Stick Boy's Back
I can now run for over 1 hour, not exactly sure of distance, but I figure I'm about 20% of the way there now. I'm going to try for 1.5-2hrs this weekend. I've been swimming 2-3 times a week too, not exactly sure why since I don't think there will be much water for me to jump into while running. Everyone better keep up the training...I'll be up around 4:30 a.m. for a morning run...Les, let me know if you want to meet me.

NO BEHIND
Happy Monday everyone! UGH! Anyway, Havent been able to walk since yesterday! Saturday morning I went to the Y and took this circuit training class from 8am-10am. We did over 100 lunges and ran stairs from 15 minutes. I think i worked out muscles that i havent used in 30 years! Now i am paying for it. It hurts so bad to walk. Tonight I have another class but its just an aerobic class that im going to try and go to if I am able too. Also, Clay and I are going to go to YOGA tomorrow night which i think will help us with some good stretching techniques.

Hello Everyone - I'm Here
Just thought I needed to post something since I haven't yet.
Well, I went out walking the other night for the first time in many many moons and needless to say I'm really in bad shape. My knees were making popping noises and my toes were killing me. I could feel the blisters forming and boy was I right. My toes look like they have been burned and they feel worse than they look. Clay, I really need to know where your toe socks came from. Either that or I need new feet, or a whole new body would do. Wouldn't that be nice, just trade it in for a better model. What Fun.
Well Good Luck To Everyone - I'm so excited we're all doing this together.

I hope everyone appreciates the time I took to come up with your nickname...some were a little more difficult than others. It sounds like the Okies are actually taking this thing seriously and working out as they finish their home repairs. Lara mentioned something about whipping all of the other girls in the 5k.
An update on me, I ran the Outrigger 5k on Saturday and then ran 4 miles on Sunday night and swam about 1100 yards on Monday morning. Tonight I just finished around 4-4.5 miles and I'll swim and bike again in the morning with another 3-4 mile run at night.
It's definitely getting easier than it was 3 weeks ago, but 4 miles is a lonnnngggg way from 26.2.

There is one more ABERRY without a blueberry and i think we both deserve one. Anyway, just got back in the gym Saturday from being out over a week with a sinus infection and red throat. I had to push myself to go work-out. I did elliptical for 45 minutes then walked on treadmill for 2 miles with 5 pound weights. Thought i was going to die! Stubby Legs ran 11 miles on Saturday morning in about 1 hour and 20 minutes. I was extremely proud of him! When he walked in, there was not a dry spot on his body. He was very sweaty and red-faced. Sunday morning, Clay and I got up and went for a run together outside. I think i lost my mind. It was so hot and I thought my face was going to explode...it was sooooooooo RED. We ran for about 30 minutes straight then i had to walk. Of course, Clay was fine and not out of breath at all. This was not even a workout for him now that he is running half marathons every other day!

I love this site...now I might not have to get a blueberry. :o)

Outriggers 5k
I finished and not too far behind the 12 year olds or the overweight crews that were running. I went too slow in the beginning and then too fast in the middle because I was gassed at the end. Legs didn't hurt at all...just need to get the cardio..........MUCH better. Lara was a 5k Crawler because of all her complaining but now that she's training I might have to change it to a 5k Competitor.
Keep it up everyone...3.1 miles is a lot tougher than you think.

Outrigger 5K
On a whim, I've decided to sign up for the Outrigger 5K tomorrow in Seabrook. I was going to go for 4 miles tomorrow, but I've decided to run the 5K instead. Also, I'm going to sign up for a 10K in September that includes a run over the Kemah Bridge...that ought to be interesting.
Run...huff huff huff...Run Clinto Run

Oh, I can't wait for my toe socks. Make Ryan's XL for extra long. Haha, hey, I know y'all haven't been posting your mileage. You & Clinto were almost in the double digits...scary! How long does it take y'all to do these runs? I do the elliptical for an hour and I know I don't get anywhere close to the miles you're putting in.
Clint, I love the pink background.
Congratulations to Lou!

The Oldest Pinkberrys Are On the Move
I think maybe we need some socks for many and varied body parts to cut down on "friction", eliminate abrasion and stop shower shock. The oldest pinkberrys are cruising to Atlanta and hopefully will get in some walking.

new training tool
i just discovered the dorkiest new training device... feet gloves - they are socks that fit on each toe to where they are seperated - looks dorky but it keeps toes from rubbing together and allows for more circulation in the feet - $10 bucks - great investment - hope all is well on everyones training and expect the oldest pinkaberrys to walk in atlanta and on the beach! and everyone needs to remember its a jungle out there!

Leslie & R to the Y to the A to the N
Ryan says he ran to the commode a couple of times at work yesterday. He really did walk about 3 miles of pipe the past 2 days and got paid for it yo. He even climbed some, so Clint let us know if you figure out how to calculate those zigs and zags.
We took Lane to the ER last night. He woke up and couldn't breathe and was blue around his mouth. He has croupe. They gave him a breathing treatment and now he's taking steriods and antibiotics. He's much better today.

Saturday's Plans from the absolute OLDEST
Missed my walk yesterday, so I'm swimming and walking today, plus I'm chasing a newly mobile Marley as she chases Scooby. Hilarious. I'm planning four trips around the sub for a total of 2 miles.

Clinto
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY TO ONE OF OUR RUNNERS! Beth is officially 30 years OLD...congrats!
However, I'm not sure she has signed up yet. Can anyone confirm that she has signed up or has she chickened out due to her new age?
Back to running, I ran 2.5+ miles (I put the plus sign there because I don't know how to measure the zigs and zags of the sidewalk versus the street) tonight in about 28.5 minutes. I ran it much slower than I had been and amazingly that made it much easier. I'm not sure if you consider it running or jogging, but to me anything that's not walking is running.
Goin down the dirty brown and really low Guadalupe River in the morning...

P90X
I just did the elliptical while watching the P90X infomerical. This was very effective. :o)
I added Lara's email so it would update her when a post was added and she wanted me to write something so she could see if it works. But the story is true.
Also, I just noticed the "Team Challenge". You should read it, it's hilarious. We should definitely challenge other teams!!!

A few thoughts from the good ole OKC
Running....Really??..and did someone say annual??? Can't we just have a picnic or something?..I'm just sayin! Anywho as for updates: I walked in and out of the office every day this week! I know this blogging isn't easy but dad quit using the email..that's cheating!
The Oldest and Dumbest's Turn
Well i figured i better learn how to do this thing - i just wanted to let everyone know that this was actually clints idea - he had already set up to run the marathon so lets give him all the credit while we are sweating and running - also i want us to raise some money for charity - clint has some ideas and any others would be great but craniosyntosis and breast cancer were two - i figure if its with family and for a good cause we might do this once a year! anyway the running im up to 6.5miles for my long run... only 20 more to go - the wife said shes gonna do the 5k! keep it up
Thunder Storms
So, after Clay enlightened me to the running plan, I got nervous and excited and decided I needed to hit the road. I gathered my two nuggets and hit the streets. I had just picked up the pace (you know, when the fat on your thighs starts to jiggle!) when I heard thunder. I turned around and booked it home. As I approached our house, our neighbor was in his driveway on the phone (I'm sure he was telling someone how bad the skies looked). Anyway, I made it home just in time. The bottom dropped as I closed our front door. I RAN for 5 min. straight and I was sweating and breathing hard.
That's it, hope you got a good laugh!

The Oldest Pinkberrys Are Walking
The oldest Pinkberrys are on the walking trail. Scooby goes for one trip around the sub and then we head out without him for three more trips, for a total of approximately two miles. I think this has been going on for about three days now, even in yesterday's rain. Thanks to our sons for getting us going.

Clinto 7/23/09
I ran approx. 1.8 miles today. It was the third run I've been on this week.
.7 miles the first day
1.4 miles the second
1.8 miles the third
I'm shooting to do approx. 2-3 mile runs starting on Sunday and then hopefully before August is over I'll be able to do 5-6 miles without too much of a problem. It's much easier said than done and I forgot how high my metabolism gets when I'm working out. I think I've lost 5 lbs already and I'm eating a ton...but better food too.

HOUSTON MARATHON
Clay wanted to set this blog up so everyone could keep track of what each of us was doing while training for the 1st Annual Family Run Event. I'll send an email to everyone that tells you how to sign in and post an update or picture to the site...happy running!
